SOCIAL AND COMMUNICATIVE ASPECTS OF PHILOSOPHICAL UKRAINIAN PROSE OF THE MODERN

Abstract

The article explores the socio-communicative aspects of Ukrainian philosophical prose of the modernist era as a space for reflecting on the individual’s existential crisis. The works of M. Kotsiubynsky and V. Pidmohylnyi are analyzed through the lenses of hermeneutics, phenomenology, and J. Habermas’s theory of communicative action. Modern prose is presented as a dialogical field between author, text, and reader, where communication becomes both a medium and a challenge of existence. Special attention is given to the urban context as a factor of identity transformation and authenticity crisis. The study emphasizes that socio-communicative strategies of Ukrainian modernist prose mirror social transformations, national consciousness formation, and the individual’s inner quest. Existential rootedness is interpreted as a way to overcome alienation and achieve authentic being.
