HISTORICAL SEMANTICS OF VIRTUE IN DEFINING THE CONTENT OF CONTEMPORARY EDUCATIONAL AND UPBRINGING PRACTICES

The article is devoted to exploring the concept of virtue. A retrospective analysis of this concept is conducted, with particular attention to reconstructing the integrity of the semantic field of the virtue concept in the European educational tradition. The emphasis is placed on identifying a common semantic feature of the virtue concept across all epochs, in its complex modifications: from the ancient understanding as a path to achieving inner well-being and complete personal development, to Kantian moral imperatives and their normative establishment in the contemporary educational and scientific environment. It is argued that in defining the content of modern educational and upbringing practices, it is important to leverage the historical experience of establishing virtuous relationships in educational and academic communications.
