PHILOSOPHY OF HISTORY: FEATURES OF THE SUBJECT FIELD

Abstract

The need to clarify the demarcation lines of the subject area of philosophy of history and its substantive features is due to the specifics of the modern disciplinary status of this field of knowledge. In general, there are three specific features of the philosophy of history: first, the symbiotic nature of philosophy and history; second, the presence of certain substantive and axiological differences between the philosophy of history and history as a field of knowledge; third, the significant affinity and at the same time divergence between the philosophy of history and social philosophy. The latent defect of the vast majority of studies in this field is an attempt, so to speak, to subject and substantive homogenization - that is, to identify those features that are common to the philosophy of history and as many other fields of knowledge as possible. Although such a research approach is not without meaning, the diametrically opposite method is much more productive and heuristic, namely: identifying the fundamental differences between different disciplinary branches, which, in fact, creates the necessary prerequisites for the substantive and objective certainty that the research environment in general, and the philosophy of history in particular, truly need.
