TECHNICAL CREATIVITY, ENGINEERING, AND DESIGN IN THE LIGHT OF THE UNIVERSALISM OF VIRTUE ETHICS

Abstract

In the twenty­first century, technology and technological innovation determine the pace of production modernization and transform the structure of society. They reshape modes of communication, education, governance, and intercultural and interpersonal interaction.Intensive technologization enhances the role of technical creativity as a driving force of social and educational progress. However, it also contributes to the alienation of the human creator from humanity’s spiritual heritage, an integral component of sociocultural advancement. This article offers an interpretation of technical creativity from the perspective of educational philosophy, enabling the analysis of engineering and design practices as morally reflective activities where technical knowledge, creative inventiveness, and moral responsibility form a unified value system. The primary focus is on clarifying the specificity of virtue ethics as a universal ethical approach and imperative, as well as determining its applicability to the analysis of technical creativity, engineering, and design from a moral perspective. The article argues that virtue, as a universal approach, ethical requirement, and practical norm, emphasizes the moral qualities of individuals capable of uniting professional competence, creative imagination, and ethical responsibility.
