Abstract

The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the project activities of natural science teachers as one of the key tools for modernising and developing the higher education system in Ukraine. It highlights the role of teachers as active agents of educational and scientific transformation in the context of increasing competition for financial resources and integration into the EU research area. The effectiveness of grant activities is shown to depend on the level of project competencies, institutional support, and organisational conditions within higher education institutions. Several inefficiencies in the use of human resources have been identified, leading to significant unproductive time, reduced scientific productivity, and demotivation among teachers in the performance of their professional duties. The study demonstrates that the systematic development of a project-oriented culture, reduction of workload, and targeted training for participation in grant competitions are essential prerequisites for the sustainable development of higher education in Ukraine.
