The article provides a theoretical substantiation of the social aspect of sustainable development in the professional training of future IT specialists. It is shown that, under the growing influence of digital technologies on social processes, the professional training of IT specialists should go beyond purely technical education and include inclusive design, digital ethics, cross-cultural communication, participatory design, and the ability to assess the social implications of technological solutions. Based on the analysis of scholarly publications, the unresolved issues of the study are specified, particularly those related to the insufficient development of socially oriented competencies, pedagogical approaches to their formation, and tools for assessing the social impact of digital solutions. The key competencies of future IT specialists, the methods of their formation, the assessment tools, and the pedagogical conditions for integrating the social aspect of sustainable development into the educational process of higher education institutions are identified.
