The article is devoted to the study of socio-cultural mechanisms of development of responsible citizenship with the tools of science education in Ukraine. Since 2015, Europe has been implementing a strategy for the development of responsible citizenship through science education, however, this strategy remains outside the modernization of Ukrainian education. The article offers an overview of the agenda for the development of the mentioned socio-cultural mechanisms, because specific mechanisms should be formulated as a result of comprehensive research. The research strategy of search of socio-cultural mechanisms of responsible citizenship development by tools of science education in Ukraine is substantiated, which consists of three stages (“Responsible citizenship in the 21st century: global and national perspective”, “Science education as a paradigm of responsible citizenship development”, “Sociocultural mechanisms of responsible citizenship development in Ukraine through science education”) with 12 research tasks subordinated to them (to analyze the features of responsible citizenship in the context of the challenges of Industry 4.0 and global pandemics; to explore modern European educational policy in the field of responsible citizenship with science education tools; to reveal the potential of public partnership in the field building responsible citizenship through science education, etc.).
