MASTER’S THESIS AS A TOOL FOR DEVELOPING RESEARCH COMPETENCE IN PHARMACEUTICAL EDUCATION

The article substantiates the role of the master’s thesis as a tool for developing the research competence of future masters of pharmacy. It is demonstrated that the master’s thesis should be regarded as an integrated educational and research process within which the cognitive, motivationalvalue, operational-activity and reflective-evaluative components of research competence are realized. Particular emphasis is placed on the importance of scientific and pedagogical supervision of the master’s thesis process, which involves not only organizational control but also methodological support in topic selection, justification of research methods, analysis and interpretation of results, as well as the development of academic writing skills. A generalized model illustrating the interrelationship between the master’s thesis process, the formation of research competence components and the functions of the academic supervisor is proposed. The study concludes that the master’s thesis is an effective means of fostering research competence in pharmaceutical education.
