LIFE EXPERIENCE AS A FACTOR IN FORMATION OF THE WORLDVIEW OF MEDICAL HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENTS: PHILOSOPHICAL AND SOCIOLOGICAL ASPECTS

Abstract

The article analyzes the influence of various factors on the formation of students’ worldview and their perceptions of the profession based on a study of their self-assessment of their own experience. The results of a sociological study are presented, which indicate the dominant influence of science, art, life experience, and family on the formation of the worldview of students pursuing higher medical education. It is substantiated that the choice of profession is not only a matter of abilities and knowledge, but also an important factor in the formation of personal and professional identity. The study used philosophical, general scientific, and special sociological methods for collecting, processing, and analyzing information. The empirical basis of the study was a survey of third- to fifthyear students and graduate students. The survey was conducted by employees of the Department of Philosophy, Bioethics, and History of Medicine among students of the Bogomolets National Medical University (N = 339). The purpose of the study was to identify student’s real perceptions of their future profession, to explain the perception of some of its important qualities, and the main sources of their motivation for choosing a profession.
